Brendan Weinhold has been using theatre for community building since his childhood. After discovering the supportive nature of First Stage Milwaukee and the Wisconsin State 4-H Drama Company, he and his father established the Washington County Drama program, which produces community-relevant works with youth in 4-H.
Brendan attended the University of Washington, where he co-founded Klichet, a dramatic dance company and Why?: Artists Against the War, both student-run organizations who collaborated during the Anti-War Arts Festival to bring thought-provoking works to campus. Also while at UW, Brendan served as artistic director of the Undergraduate Theatre Society, captaining the organization as they ran the first School of Drama freshman orientation, and won the Robert Loper Scholarship for his community development work.
After graduation, Brendan became the production manager for Youth Theatre Northwest, where he found a supportive community of artists, educators, and students. With co-workers, he established Ray Burley Productions, which produced ensemble works in Seattle-area theaters.
In 2008, Brendan and his wife, Stina Pederson (also a CGETC company member) set out with stilts, stories and juggling balls as ...And Juggling, a busking duo that traveled the world for several years before settling in Los Angeles.
In amongst all of these organizings and foundings, Brendan acts in stage and film works. Favorite stage roles include D in Polaroid Stories and God in General of Hot Desire. See him now in Forget You, released in early 2012, and his Two White Wines web series, Gerard and Esteban. Brendan also belongs to the We Make Movies film collective.
Brendan is an avid hitchhiker, loves making other people's trash his treasure, and thinks building community is the answer to all the world's ills and that theatre and film are the tools for the job.
